Outdoor movie night brings Huron residents together
The Huron Community Association (HCA) knows there’s something special about enjoying a movie under the stars.
On Neighbours Day they transform the park behind Jean Steckle Public school into an outdoor movie theatre for a neighbourhood movie night. The idea is to create an event that is easy to come to and that everyone can enjoy. Residents come together to socialize and help organize the event.
For the most part, it’s a simple event to plan. The hardest part is trying to decide on what movie to show!
Michelle Hernandez, a member of the HNA says, “the area has a lot of young families and it tends to be the kids who know each other from school. As they arrive, the kids get talking or playing with their friends and then the parents wind up saying hello to each other as well.”
An outdoor movie night is an easy and low cost way to gather the neighbourhood together and have some fun.
