Yoga brings more energy to Rockway Gardens
Yoga in parks and public places is a growing trend for cities all around the world, and Kitchener is no exception.
Rockway Gardens - a beautiful oasis of green trees and lawns, waterfalls, fountains and flowers - offers a relaxing and rejuvenating space for a group of regular yoga practitioners.
"Doing yoga under these tall trees is incredible,” says Heather, who has been coming to yoga at Rockway Centre for three years.
Another participant, Penny, has been coming to the class following a hip replacement and says the practice has done wonders for her strength, stability and range of motion.
Jayne, the yoga instructor, loves bringing her passion to the park: “I live this. I don’t just teach it. I practice every morning. It’s great to have the chance to do it outside.”
It’s interesting to see parks being used in unique ways. Rockway Gardens sees a lot of use from walkers and gardeners. It’s also a popular location for wedding portraits and family photos. Having yoga in the mix adds to the park’s energy. It’s another way that people can get outside and breathe the fresh air in the city’s green spaces.
