Working Together
The foundation of Love My Hood is built on Kitchener's tradition of working together to make things happen. For many people living in Kitchener, playing an active role in the life of our community isn't a question--it's a passion. Our resident-led, city supported approach encourages each of us to play a part in making our neighbourhoods great.
The City's Role
The City of Kitchener is committed to reducing red tape by streamlining our processes and working together to develop best practices. Love My Hood is a corporate priority that involves participation and ownership from many staff groups.
The city has a responsibility to deliver exceptional customer service and keep the values of Love My Hood at the forefront of everything we do. We also recognize the need to adapt and change as we discover new ways of working together so we can develop a process that works for everyone.
The Residents' Role
Residents can take the lead in their neighbourhoods by:
- Accessing city resources to take action on new ideas and projects.
- Strengthening relationships between neighbours by getting involved in neighbourhood programs and services.
- Working with city staff through the appropriate processes to get support on projects and ideas.
- Sharing feedback with city staff so we can continue to learn and grow.
- Being intentional to include everyone in their neighbourhood, and fostering a sense of belonging through all neighbourhood initiatives.
