Lighting up Admiral Park: a winter celebration of community
Last winter, as the days grew shorter and the nights a little darker, something magical happened at Admiral Park. Neighbours came together to brighten the season with a dazzling light display and a cozy evening of hot chocolate under the stars.
Admiral Park became a beacon of warmth and joy thanks to the creativity and dedication of local residents. With the help of a LoveMyHood Matching Grant, the Admiral Park Neighbours transformed the park into a festive wonderland from December 2024 through March 2025.
But this wasn’t just about lights—it was about connection. The project brought neighbours together to plan, share ideas, and create something special for everyone to enjoy. The infrastructure upgrades funded through the grant mean this beautiful tradition can return year after year, continuing to spread cheer during the winter months.
To celebrate the launch, the Admiral Park Neighbours hosted a free community event complete with steaming cups of hot chocolate and plenty of smiles. It was a simple yet powerful reminder of what happens when people come together: a stronger, more vibrant neighbourhood.
And the impact didn’t go unnoticed! The Admiral Park Winter Lights project was honoured with a Kitchener’s Great Places Award in 2025, winning in the Urban Design – Placemaking Category.
Here’s to many more seasons of light, laughter, and neighbourhood spirit at Admiral Park!
